NOW I have also been a maid in my house I have washed feet and wept I have believed that my eyes are good and my step nimble I have believed that poetry is enough I believed until I saw with my own eyes the name of the poem has been written in blood or maybe in red ink And my eye has not been taught to tell the difference (Paulina Popa) GHOSTS All winter long we sowed seeds, nested. Melded to one another we battled the cold as our days shortened with the nights. With the seasons' thaw came an untangling. We awoke upon a different dawn highlighting the paucity of our need. Come summer all that remained were fingerprints on the dusty shelves & a palm print on the mirror. ( James Meredith) "
